Characteristics of DC Electric Arc Furnace


1. The smelting furnace arc is stable and concentrated, which makes the molten pool well stirred and the temperature in the furnace evenly distributed, thereby reducing the erosion of the furnace lining.

2. Lower energy consumption: Due to good arc stability and small current and voltage fluctuations, the impact on the power grid is also reduced accordingly, which helps extend cable life and improve energy efficiency.

At the same time, the electrode consumption of DC electric arc furnaces is also significantly reduced. The electrode consumption per ton of steel is about 50% less than that of AC electric arc furnaces.

3. Less noise: Compared with AC electric arc furnaces, DC electric arc furnaces produce less noise during operation, which is beneficial to improving the working environment.

4. Bottom electrode design: A distinctive feature of the DC arc furnace is the design of its bottom electrode. The bottom electrode is the key to DC EAF technology. 

Currently, there are many bottom electrodes with different structures in the world, such as steel rod water-cooled bottom electrode, contact pin air-cooled bottom electrode, contact plate bottom electrode and conductive furnace bottom air-cooling. bottom electrode etc.

For example, by optimizing the electrode adjustment system and short network structure, power loss can be reduced; at the same time, using advanced flue gas purification and dust removal technology can reduce environmental pollution during the production process.
