Characteristics & Processof Ferrochrome Furnaces
A ferrochrome furnaces (also called a submerged arc furnace or resistance furnace) is an industrial electric furnace used to smelt raw materials such as ore, carbonaceous reducing agent and solvent.
It is mainly used to produce ferroalloys such as ferrosilicon, ferromanganese, ferrochrome, ferrotungsten, silicon-manganese alloy, and chemical raw materials such as calcium carbide.
The submerged arc furnaces uses the energy of the arc and the resistance heating generated by the current through the charge to melt the metal through the submerged arc operation of the electrode, and gradually adds materials, intermittently discharges iron slag, and operates continuously.

Ferrochrome Furnaces Process
It's a process that uses chromite as raw material and uses an electric furnace to smelt medium-carbon ferrochrome in one step.
During the smelting process, 8-20% of silica and 4-10% of coke and 1.5% of dolomite are added by weight to 100% of the chromite. The addition of silica and coke is maintained at 2:1. The smelting cycle is shortened and the cost is reduced.
The two-step method consumes 3,700 kilowatt-hours of electricity to smelt one ton of medium-carbon ferrochrome, while the iron furnace provided by Sanrui Electric Furnace to users before only requires 2,000 kilowatt-hours.
The one-step smelting cycle is shortened, and pollution is also reduced. The reduction characteristics of silica are cleverly utilized, the input amount of silica is accurately and scientifically controlled, and the prejudice that the addition of silica in the existing technology will damage the smelting furnace is overcome, and unexpected results are achieved.
